Chile is both a politically and economically stable county, which has been recognized around the world as an example for the rest of the South American countries. On the economic side, Chile has had an interesting rate of growth since 1985, which has meant an important development of the Chilean's way of life and the country's infrastructure. Chile is without doubt an export orientated country, with copper, salmon, wine and agricultural products, as its most important sources of income. Chile is the largest producer of copper in the world, and has become one of the most important producers of wine, due to its great quality and moderate prices. Politically, Chile has a democratically appointed President which is in power for 4 years. The also democratically voted congress, is divided in to a lower chamber (Camara de Diputados) with 120 members and a 4 year term, and a higher chamber (Senado) with 38 members. The politically independent system of justice, which is the second oldest in America, has supreme court with 21 members. |
