Chile due to its length and to the geographic location of its different areas, with its subsequently different climates and characteristics, can be divided into 5 distinctive areas:

Northern Chile:
Characterized by the Atacama desert -the world's driest desert- with its unique wildlife in its hidden oasis'; great weather year round; historical sites of the Pacific war, fought against Peru and Bolivia in the late 19th century; many archeological sites, of this land's primitive inhabitants; many historic buildings which commemorate the time of splendor of the worlds saltpeter production capital of the late 19th century and early 20th century; the Chungara Lake, declared a World Biosphere Reserve; impressive salt flats; and beautiful beaches.

Central Chile:
Here you can discover Chile's oldest and most important city -Santiago-, undoubtedly the country's administrative, political, industrial, commercial and cultural center; some of best ski resorts in the southern hemisphere; Valparaiso, the most important southern Pacific port during the 18th and 19th centuries; some of the world's best winelands; and Chile's most important beach resorts.
