Soar
away to 1670 and imagine the Jesuit missionaries walking through a narrow
path with instruments and food loaded wagons towards the Nahuel Huapi
mission in Argentina.
Rediscover the Jesuits journeys exploring the 40 miles which divide
the Reloncaví estuary from the Rupanco Lake. On route we will enjoy
millenary woods, beautiful lakes and lagoons with excellent fishing,
and impressive mountains and volcanoes.
Day 1
At our arrival to Puerto Montt we will explore the city and the enchanting
Angelmó market, where we will find the local seafood displays and the
typical handicrafts from this area. Then its off to the Jesuits route
entrance, placed near the Petrohué river mouth located on the north
extreme of Reloncaví estuary. During our trip we will see the Llanquihue
Lake, a water mirror that reflects a perfect silhouette of the Osorno
volcano. The route of nice and soft slopes, takes us first through rural
landscapes, towards millenary woods inhabited by a diverse flora and
fauna. Our first camp will be set-up on the shore of the Cayutué lagoon,
famous its beauty and abundant sport fishing.
Day 2
After a good breakfast we will walk through a path heading to the southern
extreme of the spectacular Todos Los Santos Lake, placed in the Vicente
Pérez Rosales National Park - the oldest in Chile, founded in 1961;
from there, we will take a 2 to 3 hour boat to the northern extreme
of the lake, where we will have beautiful views of the impressive Osorno
and Puntiagudo volcanoes, as well as the Tronador mount. This afternoon
is free for sport fishing or capturing images of this wonderful National
Park.
Day 3
We will start our day walking through a narrow path that borders the
Puntiagudo volcano and goes across hanging bridges over clear waters
of the river known as "no name river". After a 3 to 4 hour walk through
an impressive coigüe, mañio and ulmo forest, we will arrive to El Callao
springs, the site where our next camp will be set-up and where we will
be able to enjoy bathing in the larch tree madden bath tubs, filled
with thermal water.
Day 4
We will have a 3 to 4 hours walk, through millenary woods, where at
the end of the day we will find a Larch tree community - declared a
Chilean Natural Monument species. Our camp will be set-up by Los Quetros
lagoon, famous for its beauty and excellent sport fishing. During dinner
we will have time to share all our wonderful experiences.
Day 5
This morning we will have our last walk, heading towards the oriental
extreme of the Rupanco Lake. Amongst the humid woods and the rural landscapes
we will have beautiful views of the lake, as well as the Gaviotas river
mouth and the Casablanca volcano. Finally we will sail the border of
Rupanco Lake to El Poncho village, and then travel by land to Osorno,
where we will have a farewell lunch, before travelling to the airport
to take our scheduled flight to Santiago.
