This small town founded in 1883 on the southeast shore of the Villarrica Lake is located in the beautiful Lake Region area, where the volcanoes, lakes and forests, form a perfect setting for people who love nature and enjoy outdoor activities. Due to the development of excellent hotel facilities in the recent years and the great range of activities that can be done daily, Pucon has turned into Chile's adventure tourism capital. Some of the places that you can visit from this interesting and charming town are the Villarrica and Huerquehue National Parks; both offer us a great range of flora and fauna, incredible natural beauty and the ideal opportunity for trekking, climbing, horseback riding, fishing, and photo safaris, amongst others. For those who love close contact with the water, we find the Liucura and Trancura rivers, in which the first is great for easy kayaking, and the later which is born in the high Andes and pours its waters into the Villarrica Lake, is fantastic for rafting. Another interesting activity is the visit to the Ojos del Caburga (Eyes of the Caburga) where we find the deep blue pools of the Caburga, which feed from underground waters coming from the Caburga lake. |
